DeLay's Creeping Irrationality

The RINO is clearly not a fan of Tom DeLay - in fact I think he should resign his position as majority leader to save all Republican candidates from having to run for election in '06 and '08 with his ethics-lapse chains around their necks. With every new interview, he says something more mind-boggling.

Yesterday in a Fox News radio interview with Tony Snow (available here for the time being), DeLay continued to lash out at federal judges, continuing to suggest that he may try to take action in that area: "We have the opportunity to set up courts; we can also dismantle courts and reorganize them." When Snow asked if DeLay would include any Supreme Court justices in his criticisms, DeLay responded:

"Absolutely. We've got Justice Kennedy writing decisions based upon international law, not the Constitution of the United States. That's just outrageous. And not only that, but he said in session that he does his own research on the Internet? That is just incredibly outrageous."

Wow. Personally I find it pretty heartening that a Supreme Court justice would take the time to go out and actually do some real research rather than relying solely on his or her clerks! Apparently, however, that's not cool with Tom DeLay. As for the charge that Kennedy writes decisions "based upon international law, not the Constitution" - literally ludicrous. Kennedy has on occasion included statistics or principles from international courts in his decisions, but there are zero cases in which Kennedy (or any other justice) has "based" a decision on non-US law. I challenge anyone out there to give me an instance of this: bring it on.

Don't worry. It gets better. In a lengthy discussion about the issues concerning DeLay's ethics (the substance of which Tony Snow barely asked any questions about, choosing instead to ask whether DeLay thought there was a 'Vast Left Wing Conspiracy' out to get him, among other softballs), DeLay went after journalists for reporting the stories and actually daring to question him about these issues. "Talk about judicial activism," DeLay said, "We have now journalistic activism."

Excuse me? Journalistic activism? Apparently just as Supreme Court justices aren't allowed to do any work on their own, journalists also shouldn't actually research and report on anything!
I have only one question: Isn't that their JOB?

Republicans, this man has become nothing more than a distraction, and he's digging his own political grave to greater depths with each passing day. It's time to cut the line and find ourselves a new majority leader.
