Let the Rumors Fly

As we draw ever closer to the moment when the Fitzgerald shoe drops and D.C. goes completely haywire, the rumor mills continue to run at warp speed. The latest, from just this afternoon, after today's WaPo confirmation that the Fitzgerald investigation is focusing on Cheney's office, seems to be that Cheney will resign his office and that Bush will nominate SecState Rice to replace him.

Seems a little premature still for the moment.

The rumor to that rumor is that the WH is floating the Cheney stuff so that when Rove and Scooter are tagged and bagged it would actually seem minor.
Given Fitzgerald's track record though, if he's going after Cheney's office, and Cheney himself, it's possible Cheney is in for a rough week.
BTW, have you submitted your BINGO card for Wonkette's blogsite? ;)
Personally, I do think Scooter Libby and Karl Rove are in serious trouble; Cheney is unlikely if he's put enough buffers between himself and Libby; I still think Miller can get nailed for perjury considering her testimony doesn't jibe with some of the known facts; oh, and the Bald Guy Formerly Known As Press Secretary? Those damn parking tickets have doomed him...

Thus putting Condi Rice on the inside track to the Republican nomination...hmmm, maybe this is all just a Rovian plot to keep the WH in the hands of Bush cronies.

Two points:

(1) Linking this to Scooter doesn't link it to Dick. And I mean that in the personal, vice-presidential sense ... not the general, "you don't know dick!" sense. Dem dems will make noise, but it would be noise and nothing more.

(2) I discount the Rice rumor, though I do note that she has denied any interest in RUNNING for any office in recent interviews while saying nothing about being appointed ...

As Arsenio used to say, things that make you go "hmmmmm."

Keep the good posts coming.
