Velcro
Via Political Wire, USA Today examines the recent trends in approval ratings for the president, and the blame he's attracting for everything from the state of things in Iraq to gas prices to the economy and now to the aftermath of Katrina.
The report quotes Republican strategist Whit Ayres, who says of the slumping polls "When people are in a funk, they take it out on the guy in charge, regardless of whether he's responsible or not." USA Today follows that with this great quip from Carleton College prof Steven Schier: "It's the opposite of Teflon. What would we call it? Velcro? President Bush lately has been a Velcro president."
Well, when the (velcro) shoe fits ...

Hm, velcro. Well he has spent 5 years making a cult of personality, that he is the only person who can not make a mistake, so I suppose he is reaping the attitude he has sown.
