Bolton Confirmation Updates

Some of today's news on the John Bolton nomination:

- The Associated Press reports this afternoon that the State Department has asked Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to narrow their request for information concerning John Bolton's use of intelligence in a 2003 speech on Syria's weapons of mass destruction programs. Norm Kurz, spokesman to Senator Biden, said that the Democrats had complied with the request from State and "were hoping to receive more material from the State Department later in the day" on Tuesday.

- Steve Clemons has some good analysis of today's Douglas Jehl article (which I discuss here). Late this afternoon, Clemons also filed a post saying "State Department officials are worried that Bolton's nomination will not go through." According to Clemons, the name of Paula Dobriansky, currently serving as Undersecretary of State for Global Affairs, is being floated in State Department circles as a possible replacement candidate.
