Owen to be Nuclear Trigger

The Washingon Times reports that Priscilla Owen will be the judicial nominee used to set off the nuclear option in the Senate. Republicans "familiar with [Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's] plans" told the paper that a showdown vote will likely come later this month, and that Owen's will be the nomination called up at that moment.

Neil Lewis and Carl Hulse at the New York Times provide a wrap-up of yesterday's nuclear brinksmanship. And in the Los Angeles Times, Maura Reynolds has a quote from the Benator, one of those working toward a compromise. "I think that most of us feel that we've got to do something, and we ought to be able to put our minds together and come up with something," said Nelson on CNN yesterday afternoon.
