One New Blog Per Second

In its latest "State of the Blogosphere" update, tracker Technorati reports that a new blog appears on average every single second, with the total number doubling every five months. Wow.

Here's a BBC piece on the findings, and here's the report itself. Pretty interesting stuff.

But what is the rate of death? I see so many blogs that have not been updated for over a year and only exist because they have not been purged yet.

I wonder if that is factored into the numbers? Regardless there are alot of new ones continuing to be created like mine in May this year.

Jerry, thanks for saying so!
all I: I'm not sure about the death rate; I'll see if I can find some figures on that. You're right, it would be important to know.
