Brown-Out

News organizations are reporting that FEMA chief Michael Brown "has been removed" from day-to-day management of Katrina relief efforts, with Vice Admiral Thad Allen (the Coast Guard Chief of Staff) to take control and report directly to DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff.

ABC News says "informed sources" tell them Brown will also step down as FEMA head, which makes sense considering this newest turn of events.

Possibly the smartest Administration move since the hurricane, except that it should have come much sooner.

Better late than never? That's been the conservative mantra for the last 10 days. That said, three cheers.
