Brownback Listens

Earlier this week I noted an obnoxiously inappropriate "hold" that Kansas senator Sam Brownback placed on Julie Finley, the president's choice to be America's ambassador to the OSCE. The Associated Press reports this afternoon that Brownback has withdrawn that hold and will allow the nomination to go forward.

Brownback said in a statement "I had a very good meeting with Ms. Finley yesterday, and we had an opportunity to address concerns I and others have regarding the OSCE. I am satisfied that she will well represent the interests of the United States."

This is good news.
